Yershov, the administrative center of Ershovskogo district of Saratov region. Located at the head of the river Malyi Uzen, 180 km East of Saratov. Ershovskiy rayon is located in the center, Syrovoi plain, in a zone of dry steppe. On the territory of the district flows the river of Big Uzen, Malyi Uzen, bol'shoy Kushum (left tributary of the Bolshoi Irgiz), Muslims constitute more than 20% of the district population.
